Maruhon

Maruhon is a sesame oil manufacturer that was founded in 1725, and has continued to use the original “pressing method” of oil production for the past 300 years.

Japan’s yearly domestic production of sesame seeds would be used by Maruhon in just a single day, so their products are made from ingredients imported from Nigeria and Tanzania - but they ensure that their sesame seeds are produced sustainably and that the farmers are treated fairly.

Maruhon are proud of their quality control, and ensure that only the best seeds, free from residual pesticides, go into their sesame oils. They extract their oils only by mechanical pressing, without using modern chemical solvents. The result is a fresh, clean and high-quality sustainable sesame oil.
