Irohaya

Irohaya is a traditional Japanese candy company based in Fukuoka. Since their founding in 1934 they've been dedicated to creating delicious candy using traditional techniques in a variety of interesting flavors. Their main product is Konpeito, a traditional Japanese hard candy that gradually forms over two weeks into a cute star shape.

Konpeito is commonly gifted at weddings, graduations and other auspicious events in Japan, as since its introduction to the country, it's been seen as a high-class gift. It's even one of the official gifts given by the imperial family to visiting dignitaries.

Enjoy Japanese sugar candy in a variety of unique flavors, like Japanese white peach, banana, grape and even yuzu candy!

Irohaya's confectioners are dedicated to making the world's best konpeito hard candy. These crunchy, tasty sweet treats are created in a very involved process that takes 14 days from start to finish. As sugar grains are carefully rotated in a traditional dora pot, Irohaya's confectioners use their decades of experience to decide when to apply each layer of liquid sugar, how much to apply, how fast to rotate the pot, and at what temperature.
