Elevate your matcha experience with the Chasen Black Bamboo Handmade Traditional Japanese Matcha Whisk. This traditional black bamboo matcha whisk exemplifies the elegance and precision of Japanese tea ceremonies.

Each whisk is handmade from natural black bamboo, ensuring that every piece is unique in appearance and size. Embrace the tradition and artistry of Japanese tea culture with this exquisite matcha whisk

Preparation:

  • Before each use, soak the whisk's tines in warm water for a few minutes. This helps to soften the bamboo, preventing breakage and making the whisk more flexible.

Whisking Matcha:

  • Place 1-2 teaspoons of matcha powder into a matcha bowl (chawan).
  • Add a small amount of hot water (about 70-80°C or 158-176°F) to the bowl, just enough to cover the powder.
  • Hold the whisk with one hand and the bowl with the other.
  • Use a gentle wrist motion to whisk the matcha in a "W" or "M" shape, back and forth, until the matcha is frothy and well-mixed.
  • Add more hot water to your desired consistency and continue whisking until the matcha is smooth and frothy.
  • After each use, rinse the whisk under warm running water to remove any matcha residue.
  • Gently shake off excess water and carefully pat the whisk dry with a clean cloth.
  • Avoid using soap or detergents, as they can damage the bamboo.
  • Place the whisk on a whisk holder (chasen naoshi) to help maintain its shape and allow it to air dry naturally.
  • Ensure the whisk is completely dry before storing it to prevent mold growth.
  • Store the whisk in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
