Gradually add water to the dango flour while kneading until the dough becomes slightly firmer than an earlobe. Divide into equal portions and roll into balls. Boil the dumplings until they float, then continue cooking for 1–2 minutes before transferring them to cold water to cool. Drain well before serving. For a traditional finish, lightly grill the dango and coat with sweet soy sauce, or enjoy with kinako or sweet red bean paste.
