The Kasumi VG-10 Pro Santoku knife is a premium general-purpose kitchen knife. Gyuto knives are modern Japanese knives, developed in the late 1800s when Japan opened up to the west, and pork, beef and chicken entered the wider diet.
The gyuto knife is based on the European chef knife, but manufactured in Japan, by Japanese knife-makers, with Japanese steel, giving it exceptional cutting ability. This gyuto knife is suitable for fish, vegetables, and fruit - but its specialty is meat. Use it to slice through large slabs of beef or pork with ease.
VG-10 is a stainless steel, which makes it extremely resistant to rust. It's also typically around 61 on the Rockwell hardness scale, making it one of the hardest stainless steels available. Harder steel means the knife will stay sharp for longer, and require sharpening much less frequently.
