This will scare the average Westerner, and likely the average Japanese as well. The real shame is it isn't actually that spicy; I'd love for it to pack a bigger punch...I can only imagine how amazing this would be with some Carolina Reaper powder mixed in (I don't actually have to imagine; I had exactly that to add to it and it made it incredible). I really enjoyed the base product, and obviously it doesn't appeal to everyone, but man, once I made it even spicier I couldn't stop eating it. If you already like squid, chili oil, and fermentation, you'll like this, but add a bit more spice and it's transcendent.
